Orchid Children: takes all kinds

This article
in The Atlantic was fascinating.
The thesis, I think, is that humans evolved
to be human because of their so-called "bad"
genes. Everyone one should read!

George Tooker-y

I guess it's the Renaissance-y look. I like it.

Leonor Fini

below. milky. and elongated.

Kate O'Leary

Linkwas inspired by these
shoes, too.

these shoes

have really been a great source of inspiration.

i was wearing them at Pearl the other day while i was trying to use my
1999 SAIC id to get my 'student' discount. mind you, i''ve done this before,
with no issue, but recently they have this lady who's been giving me a hard time. so last time i backed off muttering . this time i was
like forget it, i'm going for it.
she was saying " I haven't ever even seen one of these id's...are you a student?"
" yep, hm, that's weird" bald-faced lie. but:
you know,.... back up the bike, lady. why are you being so militant? i'm just
trying to save a couple bucks. not trying too get on a plane. there's no reason you should care. at all.
it was getting a little embarrassing, when her co-worker came up and
said " eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew! i LOVE those shoes! My grandma used to
have shoe's like that and i used to love to walk around in em'."
totally took the heat off. thanks granny shoes.

Flow

watched this horrifying movie last night.
Everyone should. There are corporations
that OWN water. it's disgusting. (you know
who you are Vivendi, Suez.) They are privatizing
water so the 'people of the world can have
clean drinking water', then they are charging
the absolute most poor to pay for it. and guess what.
the most poor can't afford it. so thousands of people die
every day because of dirty water, while these
criminals are raking it in.

see: The Third Man:
Martins: Have you ever seen any of your victims?
Harry Lime: You know, I never feel comfortable on these sort of things. Victims? Don't be melodramatic. Look down there. Tell me. Would you really feel any pity if one of those dots stopped moving forever? If I offered you twenty thousand pounds for every dot that stopped, would you really, old man, tell me to keep my money, or would you calculate how many dots you could afford to spare? Free of income tax, old man. Free of income tax - the only way you can save money nowadays.

allergies

i get this weird rash from amoxicillin.
in college I went to the
dr, not knowing what it was, standing there in my serendipitously pink
gingham checked underware, under
the bright lights at his office, i was pink gingham checked.
my entire body. head to toe. and i just remember Dr. Detached
saying, 'mmmm, that is impressive.'
